Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms simulated in BioDynaMo

The first agent based model known to accurately capture the physical phenomena of biofilms growing under constant fluid flow, with experimental validation, is a BioDynaMo based model of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa biofilms.

As of 2019, biofilms (microbial communities that secrete an adhesive extracellular polymeric substance (EPS), allowing cells to attach to surfaces and resist harsh conditions) have been reported to have a global economic significance of almost $4trillion.
